For the past ten years, fifth grade students have enjoyed a great ocean adventure at Catalina Island’s Marine Institute. Every year in early October, students, chaperones and teachers visit the island for three days and two nights at Cimi Camp in Toyon Bay.
Daily activities from learning labs, squid dissection and snorkeling to kelp research, ocean life observation and lessons by marine biologists and oceanographers leave students energized, enlightened and wanting to stay longer.
