At Foothill Christian School, our desire is to infuse our curriculum with Christ’s mandate to go and make disciples of all people. We want students to know that being a disciple of Jesus means not only following him in word, but also in deed. We want students to see that they are the hands and feet of Christ strategically sent out to a world in need. We believe as the Scriptures teach that “faith without action is dead” and we are committed to fostering a living and active faith in lives of every student.
Our Faith in Action program offers students opportunities at every grade level to get actively involved in our community and beyond. Whether it’s serving the poor of Los Angeles at the Union Rescue Mission, passing out school uniforms and shoes in the Dominican Republic, or putting on a children’s program in the Navajo Nation, our students are given age appropriate ways to make a difference in their world. We pray this is only the beginning of what would become for each student, a lifetime of following Christ and serving through action.
Faith in Action Program Receives National Recognition
The Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) has recognized Foothill Christian School’s school wide Faith in Action program as an Exemplary School Program. The program will be featured in an article in the fall issue of Christian School Education magazine published by ACSI. Our Faith in Action program provides opportunities for students at every grade level to be actively involved in various age appropriate service projects in the community and beyond. This is all part of our commitment to foster within our students a desire to embrace the compassion of Christ as a daily and active reality.
The Mota Foundation
For over ten years we have had a partnership with the Manny Mota Foundation in the Dominican Republic. What began as a small idea to send used school uniforms has now become yearly trips for 8th grade students who build relationships and distribute not only uniforms, but shoes, school supplies, toys and hygiene kits as well. To date we have taken over 100 students and parents over Thanksgiving break and this year have added a second trip in January as more and more families are eager to participate.
Navajo Nation Native American Reservation in NW Arizona
Two years ago we began a new partnership with Messick Ministries who minster to the often forgotten Navajo people who live on a reservation in NW Arizona. We began taking teams of 7th grade students each spring to pass out warm clothing, blankets, and much needed food supplies. The students also put together a fun kids program with songs, dramas and testimonies. It has been a powerful way to expose students to the needs within our own country.
