Instructor Bios

 
Laura Juliano
BAND

Laura Juliano is the band director at Foothill Christian School. She graduated in May 2012 from Azusa Pacific University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics. Laura began playing french horn in fifth grade and trombone in eighth grade. She believes God called her to her vocation of teaching while she was in elementary school and looks forward to passing on her passion for playing music as an act of worship to God. Laura enjoys band, orchestra, handbells, choir, mathematics, teaching, and sports. She feels blessed to have the opportunity to minister to her students at Foothill and is excited to see how God continues to grow the band program at Foothill Christian School.


Aimee Knight
STRINGS/ORCHESTRA

Aimee Knight is the strings and orchestra director at Foothill Christian School where she has been on faculty since the 2009-10 school year. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in music from Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colorado and her Masters in Music Education (M.M.Ed) from Azusa Pacific University. Aimee began playing the violin and viola when she was in fourth grade and has loved music ever since. In addition to her position at FCS, Aimee coaches orchestra students in Arcadia Unified School District and has a private lesson studio at Gards Music in Glendora. Her other interests include singing, musical theater, dance, figure skating, and teaching Zumba® Fitness classes. Aimee believes strongly in the value of a Christ-centered education and is blessed to be able to educate and minister to children through music and worship.


Doris Kohler
PIANO INSTRUCTION

Hello, my name is Doris Kohler. This is my 25th year at FCS. I coordinate the Piano program at FCS, which includes lessons, recitals and the annual ACSI Piano Festival. My training includes a variety of musical styles, from jazz to classical, to church and worship music. In addition to teaching at Foothill, my experience includes accompanist for churches and choirs throughout the local area as well as teaching at Gards Music in Glendora. I received my BA Degree in Music Education from Azusa Pacific University in 1986. At Foothill, I teach the Transitional Kindergarten through 8th grade students, although I teach all ages, including adults. I also accompany the FCS Selah Choir. I incorporate interactive music games and music-related computer programs into my piano instruction for the younger students. I have always had a love for music, piano and singing. I love children and always knew I would do something with my life as far as music and children. I feel I can minister to children the best through music.


Carolyn Miralles
GENERAL MUSIC TEACHER, VOCAL, & CHORAL DIRECTOR

Carolyn Miralles has been the general music teacher for Foothill Christian School since 2005. She coordinates the music enrichment program for Transitional Kindergarten - 5th grade students. Carolyn also directs the elementary choir “Selah” and provides private vocal instruction to both Foothill students and students in the general Glendora area. Carolyn earned her Bachelors Degree in Music, Piano Performance, from Bethany University in 2004, holds an ACSI Teaching Credential in Music,  a CA Clear Teaching Credential in Music, and earned a Master of Education from Azusa Pacific University in 2010. Carolyn thoroughly enjoys singing and using music as an educational and spiritual vessel, and feels truly blessed that she is able to share these experiences with Foothill’s students.

 



Jen Robinson
DRAMA DIRECTOR

Jennifer Robinson has been teaching and producing shows at FCS for the past 10 years. Some of her favorite productions include Seussical, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, Godspell, and Disney’s Aladdin. Jennifer received her Liberal Studies degree and teaching credential from Azusa Pacific University. While attending APU she traveled with the University Choir and Orchestra, playing the flute and singing. She has taught 1st grade at Upland Christian, as well as 5th and 6th grade in the Baldwin Unified school district. She also directed numerous Christmas shows for her church for several years. Her hobbies include music, basketball, hiking and cooking.
