Jerry Kitchel serves as Foothill Christian School’s Director of Advancement. He has served in Christian ministry for over 25 years as a leader in the field of advancement, marketing and communication.
To build a solid Advancement Department, Jerry works closely with diverse groups that include parents, extended family members, friends, faculty, alumni, business owners, corporate executives, and community leaders. He enjoys applying his knowledge and experience in communications and fundraising with opportunities that garner support and build greater awareness for FCS throughout the Southern California region.
Jerry’s Advancement portfolio includes leadership and oversight of the Annual Fund campaign, organizational and corporate employee giving programs (i.e United Way, Wells Fargo Foundation, Northrup-Grumman, Johnson and Johnson and others), the FCS Corporate Sponsorship Program, and FCS Educational Foundation.The foundation is a tax-exempt, federally approved 501 (c) (3) public charity. Jerry serves a dual role as the foundation’s Board Secretary and Director of Advancement.Established in 2013, the foundation’s mission is to be an advocate for private Christian school education, as well as a funding source for important school projects, like the Scholarship Fund, campus-wide improvements, faculty development, and program upgrades.
Prior to joining Foothill Christian School in 2007, Jerry’s global career in the Christian nonprofit world took him to over 40 countries, including Rwanda, Somalia, Bosnia and Kosovo. He has served as Director of Church Relations for Union Rescue Mission in Los Angeles. His affiliation with FCS began in 1976 with his wife, Carolyn, who serves as Foothill’s Vice-principal.
